My journey into learning about holistic healing began in 2014 when I began to discover the health benefits of essential oils and reiki. I completed my Reiki Master level, and trained in Raindrop technique in the fall of 2015. Immediately I enrolled in a foot reflexology course and I completed my professional certification from the Atlantic School of Reflexology in 2016. Over the last four years, I have added Hand, Face, Auricular, Body, and Maternity Reflexology to my resume. For the last two years I have been working primarily from the Quispamsis and Hampton areas, but will sometimes travel out to the lake for treatments at the cottage!
Due to a sedentary lifestyle and poorly fitting shoes, many people don’t use their feet muscles properly, thus impeding good blood flow affecting overall circulation. Even 10 minutes of reflexology helps in transporting oxygen to the body’s cells, which is essential for overall health.
After a tiring and stressful day, reflexology is a soothing and relaxing way to calm down, particularly after a long day of standing and walking around, as the feet tend to swell up. Massage and reflexology of 5 to 10 minutes before going to bed can improve feelings of general well-being.
Consistent reflexology treatments promote better overall health and sleep patterns. A soothing and relaxing foot treatment induces relaxation, reducing anxiety and helps to balance hormones, while improving blood circulation. This helps in achieving a peaceful sleep.
This is the best part of reflexology! Used correctly, this is a great way to effectively manage acute and chronic pain, such as headaches, migraines, neck pain, lower and upper backaches. Your body naturally produces endorphins which help you manage all of your aches and pains. Reflexology uses natural methods to engage the endocrine system to better aid in pain management.
Foot or hand reflexology helps in fighting depression. Specific points on the feet are helpful in alleviating depression symptoms. Massaging these points or applying pressure to them regularly can help relieve symptoms of depression.
An easy way to help maintain healthy feet is through regular reflexology treatment. It helps stimulate the muscles around your feet, lessens stiffness and even reduces pain in the ankles or the heels. Plus, a short 5-minute treatment daily will make your ankles strong and flexible, thus preventing unpleasant ankle and foot injuries.
Regular reflexology treatments can help reduce the effects of edema, which is swelling in the feet and ankles due to fluid retention. This is very common during pregnancy, especially in the last trimester.
